In this session, guest speakers John Poulos of the Autistic Self-Advocacy Network and AJ Link of New Disabled South will be discussing the current political landscape around ADA, ADAAA, CARES, Section 504, as well as RFK and Elon Musk. They’ll talk about neurodivergence and its relationship to specific political views or policy positions. John and AJ will provide an overview of the policy landscape, including current threats such as Medicaid cuts and HHS reorganization, as well as how organizations are reacting. They’ll conclude with dialogue around the medical model and its overlap with gender affirming care, in addition to what advocacy looks like now and what the next steps are.
