Services/Programs Description

Works to improve the opportunities and lives of North Carolinians with I/DD through advocacy, capacity building and systems change. They do this through curating 5 year plans every 5 years that reflects a comprehensive review of major service systems and issues in North Carolina. They have numerous resoucres for the I/DD community and for the outside community that brings awareness to what I/DD is as well as an ""A-Z"" list of resources for the I/DD community


Eligibility

To become a member of the council, you are appointed by the governor. 60% of the 40 appointed members need to be a part of the I/DD community or family members. Applications for Council membership are always welcome and members of the I/DD community, including family members, are encouraged to apply at any time during the year. All applicants must complete and submit the application for endorsement and the application for board and commissions for consideration of endorsement to the Office of the Governor.
