We are so happy to invite you to a special dinner! AKALAKA and Duke Root Causes are hosting this event together, with help from Duke Campus Farm and The Penny Pilgram George Women’s Leadership Initiative at Duke University. Menu by Harini Ilamurugu, a Duke Campus Farm student and local chef. We are turning the Duke Integrative Medicine Center into a pop-up farm-to-table restaurant and spirit-free bar. Come share a space where we can: More Than a Meal: Our Broader Mission This dinner is a live practice space for that mission. People with disabilities are learning restaurant skills, earning a stipend (pay), and working together in a supportive place. Want to learn with us? We are accepting applications for our training program for future events! Support Inclusive Care in Durham Your financial support for this event does more than pay our trainees for one night. It helps AKALAKA train more Certified Peer Facilitators. These workers guide and teach local families. Together, we can stop the loneliness that many people with disabilities and caregivers feel. We can build a care system that helps everyone work and thrive in our city. Contact us to learn about sponsoring this event at: ccc@akalaka.org |
